About Johnny
Johnny Khamis serves as the Director of Community Engagement for Commercial Bank of California in Silicon Valley. With more than 22 years of experience in public policy, community relations, advocacy, and business development, Johnny brings a deep understanding of how to connect public and private sectors to create meaningful community impact.
Johnny first joined Community Bank of the Bay in June 2023 as Director of Community Engagement. Following the bank’s merger with Commercial Bank of California in November 2024, he became part of the unified CBC team, where he continues to advance the bank’s mission of supporting businesses and communities across the region.
Prior to his banking career, Johnny served two terms as a San José City Councilmember, representing over 100,000 residents in District 10. During his tenure, he chaired the Community and Economic Development Committee and spearheaded efforts to strengthen San José’s business climate, streamline permitting processes, and reduce fees for local builders. He also played a vital role in transportation and infrastructure planning as a member of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Board, helping secure billions in regional funding for mobility projects. Johnny also held leadership positions across multiple civic committees, including Public Safety, Finance & Strategic Support, Congestion Management & Planning, and the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission.
Throughout his career, Johnny has remained deeply engaged in community service, chairing the Santa Clara Human Relations Commission and the Small Business Development Commission, among others.
At CBC, Johnny continues his lifelong dedication to public service by cultivating partnerships that strengthen Silicon Valley’s economic and community ecosystem. His leadership and advocacy embody CBC’s belief that a strong bank begins with strong communities.
